  • I have been a patient for over 10 years. I also trust my children in their care. They provide friendly knowledgeable service. They are aware of how scary the dentist can be and they are kind and gentle. I recommend them to anyone looking for a dentist!

  • My six year old said, "Really good. 5 stars." "Why?" "Because she let me have a toy, and she was really, really nice." There you have it, from the patient herself.

  • I've been seeing Dr. Ferentchak and his staff for years. The referral to this office was the greatest gift that I was given when I first moved to the area. Super friendly and always willing to help. I wish I could give 6 stars!

Root Canal Therapy

If you have a toothache that is causing a lot of pain, you are probably worried about the cause. You might feel anxiety over the thought that you might need a root canal. You might feel so much anxiety, in fact, that it keeps you from going to the dentist for treatment.

Although the brunt of many dental jokes about awful procedures, the root canal is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Today’s modern endodontic treatment means that getting a root canal is really no worse than getting a run-of-the-mill filling.

When a throbbing toothache persists for days, you need to call your dentist. Don’t let baseless fears keep you from taking care of the problem. The root canal procedure is a simple one that can save your tooth and keep the infection from spreading to your other teeth.

Call us if you have a toothache that is becoming unbearable. At Ferentchak Family Dentistry, you have nothing to fear about the root canal. Let us treat your tooth pain and make your mouth healthy again.

The Much-Maligned Root Canal

In centuries past, a toothache usually meant constant pain until the tooth was extracted. With root canal therapy, your pain can be eliminated and your tooth can be saved. The root canal procedure is a relatively simple one, and it can ensure that you do not lose a tooth. Left untreated, the infection can spread to your other teeth, creating even more problems.

It's important to remember that it is not normal to feel dental pain and it will likely not go away on its own. The longer you put off going to the dentist, the worse the problem will become. Most people are surprised to find out that their toothache pain is much worse than getting a root canal. A root canal treatment will remove the infection, putting a stop to your pain and restoring your oral health.

What Can I Expect with a Root Canal?

You can expect that the root canal procedure itself is simple and straightforward. It is a common procedure, and most patients report afterward that they were worried for no reason. With our dentists' experience, a local anesthetic, and today’s modern dental technology, you will not feel any pain during the procedure.

After numbing the area with a local anesthetic, we remove the decayed part of the tooth by creating a tiny hole in it. Then we will take out the infected nerve tissue located in the root. The space left by the nerve that has been removed is thoroughly cleaned and filled; this will prevent further infection.

Removing the pulp of the tooth weakens the tooth structure that is left behind, so it can be susceptible to fracture. A dental crown will give your remaining tooth structure the strength it needs so it functions just like it did before it was infected. Your dental crown will be made to match the rest of your teeth and look completely natural.
